Good security should make everyday tasks simpler: giving someone temporary access, understanding an alarm notification or keeping outdoor CCTV equipment protected. This week’s product watch looks at four recent developments worth considering for homes, workplaces and managed buildings.
Research period: 16–23 October 2026 · Checked: 23 October 2026
These are potential options for discussion. Suitability, supply and installation requirements need checking for each property.
Give visitors access without handing over a key
Codelocks ConnectShare CL4500CC and CL5500CC
Recent release: previewed by Codelocks on 28 August; UK launch coverage appeared on 8 September 2026.
ConnectShare supports entry by code, card or smartphone. Its app supports time-limited codes and an activity log, making it worth considering for shared offices or rooms used by visiting contractors. The practical benefit is more flexible access without organising a physical key handover. Manufacturer overview.
UK status: Reported available, with a CL5500CC variant also listed by UK distributor ADI. Confirm the correct lock configuration and current stock. Codelocks describes phone sharing as requiring no internet connection at the lock and no hidden subscription fees; confirm the terms for your intended features. UK launch details.
Reach your doorbell picture with fewer steps
HKC SecureComm2 version 1.0.13
Manufacturer announcement: 15 October 2026 — before this week’s research window.
HKC’s app update lets users open live HKC Video Doorbell footage directly from a recent ring notification. It also improves streaming reliability and adds clearer descriptions to Technical Zone notifications.
For existing HKC users, the benefit is quicker access to the visitor’s picture and easier-to-understand alerts.
UK status: Released and announced on HKC’s UK website. The doorbell features require compatible HKC equipment. The announcement does not establish your ongoing service charges; check your existing arrangement. HKC announcement.
Make an existing access-control system easier to manage
Paxton10 software improvements and I/O Connectors
Manufacturer update: 17 August 2026.
Paxton’s improvements include easier user importing, stronger backup handling and a PIR exit mode intended to reduce false “door forced” alerts. New I/O Connectors let compatible equipment respond to access events.
For an office or managed building, this could simplify administration and reduce distracting door alerts.
UK status: Paxton says the connectors are available through approved distributors and describes the software enhancements as free. Hardware and installation are separate; check the installed Paxton10 configuration before upgrading. Paxton details.
Keep outdoor CCTV equipment together and protected
AXIS TQ1823-VE Dual Mount Cabinet
Announced: 11 September 2026. Distribution planned for November 2026.
This cabinet mounts two compatible Axis devices and provides protected space for supporting equipment, such as power accessories and surge protection, which are sold separately.
For a yard or commercial entrance, the potential benefit is a tidier installation with fewer separate enclosures on a wall or pole.
UK status: Announced, with distribution planned for November. UK stock and delivery dates remain unconfirmed; it should not be treated as available now. Axis announcement.
